Time management is a fantastic skill to have, but it needs to be learned and developed. Tools can help, though, and that’s where time management apps come in.
From a timer that can help you work better and enjoy a break, to reminder apps that help you make the most of your time, to an app that helps you find out where your time is going we have a range of clever software for this will help you improve your time management techniques.
A crucial part of time management is knowing when it’s time to take a break. Regular breaks keep you fresh and make you more efficient in the long term. We have an app that can help you with that – the free Be Focused app helps you get things done by breaking individual tasks into discrete intervals separated by short pauses.

This is based on the theories behind Francesco Cirillo’s “Pomodoro Technique”. Developed in the 1980s, this technique involves setting a timer for 25 minutes of intense work and then taking a five-minute break when the timer rings.

You can use Be Focused as a simple Pomodoro timer by simply pressing the Go button on the 25 minute timer and working until the timer runs out, or you can customize the work/break times to suit your needs. You can also set different timer settings for different tasks.
This app also offers a chronometer – a ticking clock – a sound that you can activate during your working hours. The frequency of this ticking can be adjusted to your liking within the app. Some people find that the sound of a clock ticking fast can encourage them to work faster and get more done in less time.

Google Keep is a fabulous app available for iOS and Android devices that lets you capture, edit, share, and collaborate on typed, drawn, and voice notes. However, what we’re particularly interested in when it comes to time management is Google Keep’s ability to give you location-based reminders.
This functionality is available in other note-taking apps as well as many to-do list apps, but it’s usually a paid premium feature while Google offers it for free.

This means you can get a reminder to pick up your cleaning if you’re near the store, or nudge yourself to ask about your child’s homework at school pickup, saving you the need to take or have a separate trip to make an extra call or email.
It’s easy to set up reminders like this. All you have to do is create a new note, tap the bell-shaped notification icon at the top-right of the screen, and then select “Select a location.” You can then search for the place where you want to be reminded of something. You can also link these reminders to shopping lists you’ve created in the Google Keep app, so you can set a reminder that includes important shopping items to alert you when you head to the grocery store.

How the pandemic has made our personal lives seem like a daunting to-do list
Writing a to-do list is 101 when it comes to organization and time management, but it’s one thing to make a list and another to act on it. There are hundreds of to-do list apps out there, but we found one that helps us with time management — and it’s completely free.
Prioritize: Organized To-Do automatically organizes all your to-do’s that you need to get done based on the due date and the priority level you assign to each task. This concept means you can structure your activities based on what needs to be done fastest, rather than wasting time on a less important task and then rushing to catch up.

When creating your to-do list, you can set the priority level to Very High, High, Medium, Low, and Not Important. This means when you view your to-do list, you’ll see the more important task at the top so you can see it at a glance to keep your time management on track.
This ad-supported app has a simple interface and works intuitively. You can use this to create very simple prioritized to-do list entities or take things further to create reminders, set due dates, add notes and set regular tasks to repeat.

If you’re looking for time management solutions because you don’t understand where your time goes, experimenting with a time tracking app could help you answer this important question. There are many time tracking apps, mostly aimed at business people who want to track their billable time. The Toggl Track app we’ve featured can be used for that, but it can also be used to help you find out what’s taking up your time in general.
You can quickly create time entries by either launching the in-app timer and naming that time period, or adding entries afterwards with the handy Add button. Toggl Track then shows you a simple snapshot of your day or week with its “Reports” feature. You can analyze your reports in the app or export them via CSV.

You can also connect your calendar app to Toggl Track to see all your calendar events and time entries in the app itself. That means the app can send you notifications before events start. Connecting your calendar also means Toggl Track instantly creates time entries based on your calendar events.
If you don’t want to open the app every time you want to create a timed entry, Toggl Track offers Siri integration. You can use your iPhone’s Shortcuts app to set up the ability to ask Siri to start time entry in the Toggl Track app.
